Old Architecture

There is something about old architecture that is absolutely fascinating to me. Take this house, for example:

it is complex and elegant. The porch surrounded by decorative pillars is itself extraordinary artwork. The way that the roof is shaped and colored is not only effective, it actually looks nice. There was so much effort that went into this place to make it stand out, so unlike the vast majority of modern architecture.

These cookie-cutter houses make absolutely no sense to me. They lack passion and any kind of thoughts of making it unique. They are, in a word, soulless. There are so many things in the modern world that are like this. In my opinion, we need to return to some of these older styles, or at least make something with some amount of caring put into it.

  1. Wow, I want to live in a house like that! (The first one, obviously)

I like the decorative pillars: They help make the house an actual work of art, not just a "cookie-cutter" house, as you said.
